The founder and General Manager of Jstar Global, Ms. Joyce Liang, was invited as a guest speaker. Ms. Liang is a female entrepreneur and holds a huge 23 years of experience in international business.
Ms. Liang hold a 3-hour long interactive session with students to discuss International sales strategy. After discussing basic definition of strategy and international strategy, she initiated the discussion by asking students key questions such as why expand internationally, where to expand and how to expand and had in-depth group discussion followed by her take on these topics. Thereafter, she explained how and why international business strategies must balance local responsiveness and global integration. She described her real-world experience in various countries time-to-time. Further, she holds a detailed discussion international sales strategy and she emphasized role of e-commerce. She also described story of her entrepreneurial efforts to build Jstar Global. Ms. Liang, then, shed light on risk perspective while briefly discussing types of the risks and their implication on international business management. Finally, she shared her experience visiting international tradeshows and discussed ideas/strategy to find customers at trade shows. The talk was finished with a 5 min Q&A session. A few students thanked Ms. Liang after her class for her wonderful speech and expressed their desire to visit her company.
